Dolphin Sea Vegetable Company / Irish Seaweeds, Northern Ireland was established in 1990.

We are a small family run and orientated business based in Belfast, hand harvesting Irish seaweed from around the shores / coast of Ireland having developed and progressed the sea veg / seaweed market / industry within Ireland.

We mainly hand harvest the various seaweeds / macroalgae :-

After many years of hand harvesting and supplying the local Northern Ireland market with the edible red seaweed - Dulse (Rhodophyta - Palmaria palmata) - a traditional snack food in Northern Ireland and the west coast of Ireland, Dolphin Sea Vegetable Company instigated Research & Development Projects, with major Universities within Ireland and Northern Ireland, for the drying and cultivation techniques of sea veg - edible seaweeds.

This Research & Development resulted in the establishment of seaweed aquaculture and led to the installation of the “Seaweed Farm” - based in Strangford Lough, Co Down, Northern Ireland... THE FIRST IN EUROPE OF IT'S KIND!!!!

Due to increasing worldwide interest in the use of algae / seaweeds for their pharmaceutical properties and benefits, Dolphin Sea Vegetable Company undertook further Research Programs, which has resulted in the development of a Red Marine Algae ( RMA ) product – called “Phyco-PLEX”. This proprietary blend of Red Marine Algae – RMA (Phyco-PLEX) is a 100% natural product and has shown in laboratory tests to be effective against :

• Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 - oral cold sores and gential herpes
• Varicella Zoster Virus - shingles and chickenpox

From Phyco-Plex, EMERALD RMA was developed - and this showed to be effective against :

• Candida albicans - one of the causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS
• Enterococcus faecalis previously known as Streptococcus faecalis
